Cul de Sac is a quiet village on the north-east coast of the French side, set around a sheltered bay. It is best known as the departure point for the short ferry and water-taxi hop across to Île Pinel (Pinel Island), a tiny, car-free islet with shallow turquoise water, two beach restaurants and easy snorkelling, and for the boat trips out to the Tintamarre and Petite Clef nature reserves just offshore.
