Villa Mapai is a six-bedroom oceanfront house in the Terrasse de Cul de Sac community, on the island's northeast coast, looking straight out at Pinel Island across the water. Recently renovated, it sleeps up to fourteen and rents as five or six bedrooms, built for a family or a group who want to be on the water rather than above it.
The heart of the house is a wide wooden deck with a heated infinity pool set at the edge, so the pool runs into the view of the Atlantic beyond. Loungers, shaded seating, and an outdoor dining setup make the deck the main living space, and a hot tub covers the evenings.
What Mapai has that most villas do not is a private dock, with direct access to the water for a swim, a boat, or the villa's kayaks. Pinel Island is a short paddle or boat ride across, an easy day trip that starts from your own dock.
The six bedrooms are en-suite and done in soft neutral tones, and the covered terrace runs long for shade and uninterrupted ocean views. It is the kind of house where the day is organized around the water.
The Cul de Sac pier and its five-minute ferry to Pinel are close, and we send guests to Yellow Beach, the easygoing beach club by the Pinel dock, for grilled seafood and a cocktail. Orient Bay is about ten minutes by car, and Princess Juliana Airport around thirty minutes. Our team can have the boat, a chef, and a full kitchen lined up before you get in.
