Villa Alma

Villa Alma is a four-bedroom oceanfront villa in Beacon Hill, the headland on the Dutch side between Maho and Simpson Bay, with an infinity pool that lines up with the sea. It suits a family or a group of friends who want the water on the doorstep and the busier side of the island close at hand.

The house is built to face the ocean. Floor-to-ceiling windows run through the living spaces and open to the breeze, and the sea is in view from more or less everywhere. The interiors are contemporary and uncluttered, letting the water do the decorating.

The infinity pool is the center of it, its edge dropping toward the horizon, ringed by sun terraces and loungers, with an alfresco dining area and a barbecue for the evenings outside. There is direct beach access below for the mornings you want sand rather than tile.

What sets Alma apart is how fully it is looked after. Daily housekeeping and laundry, pool and garden maintenance, and a concierge who will pre-stock the kitchen, arrange a private chef, book tours, and sort transport, all come with the house, and in-villa spa treatments can be arranged. The four bedrooms are equal, each with a king bed, an en-suite bath, and its own access to a terrace or the pool. The whole property is gated with round-the-clock security.

For a meal out, Karakter Beach Bar sits barefoot on the sand nearby at Simpson Bay, an easy, unfussy spot for a long lunch or a sundowner, and our concierge can point you to the best of the evening.

Low-season weeks start at $8,400 for the four bedrooms. Most evenings settle into the same rhythm: the infinity edge running out to the sea, drinks carried out to the terrace, and the staff keeping everything moving quietly in the background.
