Villa Amber sits on two and a half acres in Terres Basses, near Baie Rouge at the western end of the island. The land is the point: the house has room around it that few villas here can match, wrapped in tropical gardens with the sea and the neighboring islands in view. It suits a family or group that wants space and quiet, and rents as two, three, or four bedrooms.
A wrap-around terrace runs the full outside of Amber, so there is always a spot in sun or shade for morning coffee, a sunset drink, or a late dinner. The large pool is heated from mid-October to mid-April, which matters if you are coming in the cooler months. Loungers and shaded seating look out over the water.
Three of the four suites sit on the main level with direct access to the terrace and pool. The fourth is on the lower level with its own private entrance, the room for whoever wants to come and go without crossing the house. All four are air-conditioned with en-suite bathrooms.
The kitchen is set up for real cooking, and the concierge can line up a private chef, a spa treatment, or grocery pre-stocking on request. Baie Rouge, a wide beach known for its calm morning water, is a short drive away. Princess Juliana Airport is about fifteen minutes by car. For dinner out, we send guests to Ocean 82 in Grand Case, the fine-dining table right on the water, with the rest of the restaurant row around it about twenty-five minutes north.
From $6,300 a week in low season for all four bedrooms, what you are paying for at Amber is room: two and a half acres, a wrap-around terrace, and the islands going dark across the water at the end of each day.
