Villa Monchal is a 3-bedroom retreat a short walk from quiet Plum Bay in Terres Basses, with a second master suite in its own garden bungalow and a pool ringed by loungers. Made for couples and small families.
Villa Monchal sits a short walk from Plum Bay, one of the quietest stretches of sand in Terres Basses, where the beach is usually yours and a scattering of neighbors. It suits couples and small families who want the Lowlands without the crowds.
The layout is what sets Monchal apart. Two of the three bedrooms are full master suites, and the second one sits in its own detached bungalow set back in the garden, so a honeymooning couple or a set of grandparents can have real distance from the main house. The third bedroom and its bathroom stay in the main building, which keeps a small family close together.
Inside, the living and dining rooms open straight onto a shaded terrace through wide windows, with high ceilings and pale, neutral finishes that keep the rooms cool through the afternoon. The kitchen is fully equipped for a week of home cooking, and the covered terrace is built for long lunches out of the sun.
The pool is the center of the property, ringed by loungers and framed by the garden. Mornings are for a swim before the heat, afternoons for a book in the shade, evenings for a drink as the light drops behind the trees.
For a dinner out, Le Sand sits right on the sand at Baie Nettle, a ten-minute drive, and does French cooking with your feet more or less in the water. Our concierge can book the table and arrange a car so you are not driving the coast road after a bottle of rose.
Low-season weeks start at $2,950 for two bedrooms and $3,350 for the full three. It is the kind of place you stop checking the time: the garden bungalow set back in the trees, the near-empty beach at the end of the lane, and the pool waiting in the quiet.

Good to know
- Check-in from 4:00 PM, check-out by 10:00 AM. Earlier arrivals can sometimes be arranged.
- Rates are per week in US dollars, plus 10% tax and service. A deposit holds the dates; the balance is due before arrival.
- House rules, the security deposit and cancellation terms are set out in the rental agreement for this villa. Parties and events always need the owner's approval in advance.
- The French side uses euros and European 220V sockets, so bring an adapter for US plugs. US dollars and cards are widely accepted.
- Terres Basses is residential and gated: for groceries and most restaurants you drive out to Marigot, Simpson Bay or Grand Case, or have a chef come to the villa.
- A rental car is the easiest way to get around; driving is on the right on both sides of the island.
